Air Systems BB50-CO Standard Grade-D Breathing Air Filtration System

The Air Systems BB50-CO standard grade-D breathing-air filtration system is a portable source of breathing air for up to four workers in environments where the air quality has been compromised. The four respirator couplings on the unit have safety locks to secure the breathing hoses (not included) to the filtration unit. Air is moved into the unit by a compressor (not included), where it is filtered in three stages to provide grade-D quality air as specified by ANSI/Compressed Gas Association (CGA) air quality standards. Through three filtration stages, the unit removes approximately 99.99% of airborne contaminants down to 0.01 micron. The first stage removes bulk liquid and particulate matter; the second stage removes oil and ultra-fine particulates, and the third stage eliminates organic vapor and odor. Each filter indicates when it needs to be replaced. The first- and second-stage filters automatically drain. The third-stage filter requires manual draining.

The Air Systems BB50-CO comes with an inline carbon monoxide (CO) monitor that detects when CO concentration levels exceed 10 parts per million (ppm) and sets off a warning light and alarm to alert workers. The system’s case is aluminum and has a built-in handle for portability. The system includes a pressure gauge, a pressure regulator for controlling air flow to the respirator masks, a visual flowmeter that confirms air is flowing to the CO monitor, and a remote DC alarm jack with cover cap for attaching an optional remote alarm. A safety-release valve at the outlet keeps system pressure from exceeding 125 pounds per square inch (psi). A manufacturer’s warranty guarantees against defects in workmanship or material for one year after the date of purchase when used as directed by the manufacturer. Electrical systems and components are covered under warranty for 90 days from the date of purchase. The CO monitor and sensor are covered under a two-year warranty. The system comes with an instruction manual.

Breathing-air filtration systems provide breathable air to a specified number of users in environments where the air quality is compromised. The system filters incoming air from a compressor to remove particulate matter, oil, odor, and other contaminants. A respirator mask is connected to the unit’s respirator couplings, and the filtered air is then fed through the breathing hose and into the mask. The size of the breathing unit required by a particular job is determined by the air flow and pressure requirements of the respirator masks, as well as the number of masks that need to be attached.

Air Systems International manufactures air filtration systems, air compressors, confined space ventilation products, and other safety equipment for industrial, military, and emergency-response applications. The company, founded in 1984, is headquartered in Chesapeake, VA, and meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 standards for quality.
