From the Manufacturer

3M™ Peltor™ Lite-Com Pro II UHF Two-Way Radio Headset provides hearing protection while making it easy for workers to communicate in high-noise environments with a built-in frequency programmable UHF radio. The two-way radio communications headset is fully programmable and easily connects workers with up to 30 channels. Push-to-Talk (PTT) or Hands-Free Voice Activated (VOX) Transmit Functions make it easy to communicate in either mode. A wide and softly padded headband and deep earcups provide a comfortable fit for extended wear. A two-point suspension and wire headband with individual spring action help facilitate constant, even pressure where the earmuff cushions the head for a secure, comfortable fit. The earmuffs won’t cut off awareness of the surrounding situation; two external microphones allow the user to hear ambient noises and warning signals while still making face-to-face conversations possible. Noise-canceling microphone enables clear communications in noisy environments.

Meets industry safety standards
This headset has a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 25 dB. The NRR may overestimate the hearing protection provided during typical use. 3M recommends reducing the NRR by 50% for estimating the amount of noise reduction provided. The radio operates on the 403-470 MHz band. Selectable transmitting power ranges include high, medium and low. Other features include privacy sub-channels (CTCSS/DCS): 38/83 and narrowband mandate compliant: (12.5/20/25 kHz channel spacing). Electronic device works on a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. This headset has been rated to be an Intrinsically Safe Design by Factory Mutual Approvals with the specifications: Intrinsically safe, Class I, II, III, Division 1, applicable Groups A through G, T4, -20°C≤Ta≤50°C; Intrinsically safe, Class I, Zone 0, AEx ia IIC, T4, -20°C≤Ta≤50°C, hazardous (classified) locations.

Importance of hearing protection
Exposure to loud noises can adversely affect the ability to hear over time. Wearing proper hearing protection devices can help in reducing the harmful effects of noise. Sounds levels are expressed in decibels, often abbreviated as dB. Higher decibel numbers indicate louder sounds. Typical decibel levels associated with common sounds include: outdoors with no people or traffic 20 dB, normal conversation 60 dB, power lawn mower 90 dB, chain saw 110 dB, and 12-gauge shotgun 165 dB. The hearing protector NRR can be used to evaluate different hearing protection options. However, the actual level of protection varies depending on fit, wearing time and other factors.
